Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 30, 2026

At California UCP Resource Guide (californiaucp.org), we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website or use our services, how we use that information, and what choices you have. We are an independent informational website — not a government agency — and we handle your data in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

We collect only the information necessary to operate our website, respond to your inquiries, and connect you with certification resources. Except for the consultation referrals described in this policy (which you can opt out of), we do not sell your personal information. If you have questions about this policy or want to exercise your privacy rights, please use our contact form.

Information We Collect

We collect information you voluntarily provide through our forms:

  • Contact form: name, email, phone (optional), message
  • Consultation request: name, company, email, phone, business type, revenue range, certification interest, NAICS code (optional), description, bonding/insurance interest (optional checkbox), certification date (optional), and the referring page/UTM data captured when you arrived on the site
  • Guide downloads: name, email, business type
  • Newsletter: email address

We also collect standard analytics data through Google Analytics (GA4), including pages visited, referring URLs, device type, and general geographic location. This data is anonymized and does not personally identify you.

How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your inquiries and contact requests
  • To connect you with qualified certification consultants who may assist with your DBE/ACDBE application (consultation requests)
  • To send you the requested guide or resource (download requests)
  • To send periodic updates about DBE certification (newsletter — with your consent)
  • To improve our website content and user experience

Information Sharing

Consultation requests: When you submit a consultation request, your information may be shared with independent certification consultants who can assist you. By submitting the consultation form, you consent to this sharing.

Except for the consultation referrals described below (which you can opt out of), we do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We may share information with:

  • Independent certification consulting partners: if you request a consultation, we may share the information you submit (including your name and contact details) with one or more independent, qualified consulting professionals so they can contact you about your request. We share consultation requests with a single partner at a time (exclusive referral) unless you ask otherwise.
  • Licensed bonding/insurance professionals: if you check the bonding/insurance interest box on the consultation form, we may share your contact information with a licensed surety bonding or business insurance professional so they can contact you.
  • Service providers (email delivery, analytics) who process data on our behalf
  • Law enforcement when required by law

Cookies & Advertising

We use cookies for analytics (Google Analytics) and may display advertisements (Google AdSense). These services may use cookies to serve ads based on your browsing history. You can manage cookie preferences in your browser settings.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal data
  • Request deletion of your personal data
  • Opt out of marketing emails (unsubscribe link in every email)
  • Opt out of sale/sharing of personal information (California residents per CCPA)

To exercise these rights, contact us.

Your California Privacy Rights — Do Not Sell or Share

California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). Because we may pass your consultation request (including your name and contact details) to an independent certification consulting partner, that disclosure may be considered a "sale" or "share" of personal information under the CCPA, because partners may pay us a referral fee. You have the right to opt out of this.

As a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect about you, how we use it, and who we share it with
  • Delete the personal information we have collected about you, subject to certain exceptions
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information — including sharing your consultation request with consulting partners
  • Non-discrimination: we will never deny you service, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of service because you exercised any of these rights

To opt out of the sale or sharing of your information, or to exercise your right to know or delete, submit a request through our contact form and tell us which right you want to exercise. You can also simply note "do not share my information" in your consultation request, and we will respond to you directly without involving a partner. We will confirm and respond to verifiable requests within the timeframes required by law.
